1. Contract, General Information, Date and Location
1.1 Scope of Application
These General Terms and Conditions of Participation and these Competition Rules (hereinafter collectively referred to as “ATB”) apply to all persons participating in the “Torlauf Dachstein” sporting event organized by the Torlauf Dachstein Club, Schildlehen 83, 8972 Ramsau am Dachstein, including all competitions held as part of this event weekend.
By registering for a competition, participants accept these ATB in the version valid at the time of registration, and they become an integral part of the contractual relationship between the registered participant and the organizer. The currently valid version is available on the official website at www.torlauf-dachstein.info.
1.2 Organizer
The organizer is the Torlauf Dachstein Association, Schildlehen 83, 8972 Ramsau am Dachstein, Austria, ZVR number: 1096617254, hereinafter referred to as the “Organizer.”
1.3 Explanations and Contact Information
All communications from a registered participant to the organizer must be sent by email to raceoffice@torlauf-dachstein.info or in writing by mail to Verein Torlauf Dachstein, Schildlehen 83, 8972 Ramsau am Dachstein.
1.4 Date and Location
Date in 2026: Saturday, September 5, 2026.
Start and finish area: WM-Stadion Ramsau Ort, 8972 Ramsau am Dachstein. The exact meeting points, start areas, finish areas, and distribution locations will be announced on the website, in the course information, and during the race briefing.
1.5 Linguistic Equality
To improve readability, certain terms referring to people are used in a standardized form in some cases. All such terms apply equally to all genders.
2. Participation Requirements and Safety Regulations
2.1 Eligibility and Qualification
All individuals who have reached the minimum age required for the respective event, are not subject to any disqualification, meet the medical and personal requirements, and have properly registered via the online registration platform provided by the organizer are eligible to participate.
Each registered participant must compete in person and be able to complete the selected course under their own power, in compliance with the rules, and within the published maximum time limit.
No separate qualification, such as iTRA, UTMB, or comparable rating points, is required to participate in the Torlauf Dachstein events. Notwithstanding this, each participant is obligated to realistically assess the demands of the chosen event.
2.2 Minimum Age, Parental Consent, and Duty of SupervisionParticipants who have reached the age of 16 by the day of the event (September 5, 2026) are eligible to compete in the Dachstein Torlauf Marathon, the Dachstein Torlauf Half Marathon, the Dachstein Torlauf 10KM Run, and the Dachstein Torlauf Team Run.
Participants who have not yet turned 18 by the day of the event must provide a written consent form signed by a parent or legal guardian. This form must be uploaded during registration or presented upon request by the organizer.
For the Dachstein Skyrace Slalom and Dachstein Ultra Slalom events, only participants who have reached the age of 18 by the event date (September 5, 2026) are eligible to participate.
By registering a minor participant, the parents or legal guardians confirm their consent to the participant’s participation and their acceptance of these General Terms and Conditions (ATB).
The organizer assumes no duty of supervision for minor participants. The duty of supervision remains with the parents or legal guardians, or with an adult supervisor appointed by them, throughout the entire event.
2.3 Race Directors and Designated OfficialsThe race committee consists of the responsible organizational members appointed by the organizer. It is responsible for the sporting, organizational, and safety-related conduct of the races.
Race management may expressly assign specific tasks to individuals, in particular volunteers, course marshals, checkpoint staff, staff at refreshment stations, security personnel, mountain rescue teams, medical personnel, doctors, and members of the fire department. These individuals act on behalf of the organizer or race management within the scope of their respective duties.
Instructions from the race directors and the persons they have appointed must be followed immediately at all times.
2.4 Personal Requirements and Alpine Hazards
The Torlauf Dachstein races take place primarily through alpine and high-alpine terrain in the Dachstein Mountains, at altitudes of over 2,000 meters above sea level in some sections. The routes follow hiking trails, mountain paths, and climbing routes of varying conditions and difficulty levels.
Depending on the race, participants must navigate steep ascents and descents, exposed and precarious sections, rough terrain, loose rock, slippery surfaces, as well as simple climbing and belaying sections. These require a high degree of sure-footedness, a head for heights, good sense of direction, and alpine experience.
Due to the geographical and climatic conditions of the Dachstein Mountains, natural hazards may occur along the route, particularly snowfields, remnants of old snow, rockfall, areas at risk of falling rocks, thunderstorms, fog, precipitation, storms, cold temperatures, and rapidly changing weather conditions. These hazards cannot be completely ruled out, even with careful route planning, markings, warning signs, or safety measures implemented by the organizer.
In addition, participants in the Torlauf Dachstein Ultra must be aware that part of the course will be covered after dark. Limited visibility poses an additional challenge and an increased risk.
By registering, each participant confirms that they are aware of the specific requirements of the chosen event, the risks associated with alpine activities, and the possibility of unforeseeable dangers, and that they accept these on their own responsibility.
2.5 Personal Responsibility, Preparation, and Required Equipment
All events in the Torlauf Dachstein series—including shorter distances such as the 10-km run, the half marathon, and the team race—are challenging alpine races. They require careful preparation, an appropriate level of fitness, and experience in the terrain. The marathon, the Skyrace, and the Ultra place particularly high demands on physical fitness, mental strength, sure-footedness, a head for heights, and experience in high mountains.
Each participant is required to use the published route information—including distances, elevation gain, cutoff times, technical requirements, and weather conditions—to independently assess which race matches their own abilities. If in doubt, choose a shorter or less demanding route.
The mandatory equipment list represents only the minimum requirements. Each participant is required to supplement this equipment appropriately based on their own needs, the chosen route, weather conditions, and alpine conditions.
Weight alone should not be the deciding factor when choosing equipment. What matters most is that the equipment provides sufficient protection against cold, wet conditions, wind, and other adverse conditions in the high mountains and helps maintain your performance and safety.
2.6 Medical Requirements
Participation in the Torlauf Dachstein is permitted only to individuals who are in good health and whose training and fitness levels are appropriate for the chosen event.
Each participant is personally responsible for assessing their own medical fitness for the chosen event before registering and before the start. If there are any doubts regarding one’s state of health or physical endurance, it is strongly recommended to undergo a medical or sports medicine examination before participating.
For the Torlauf Dachstein Marathon, Torlauf Dachstein Skyrace, and especially the Torlauf Dachstein Ultra, the organizer expressly recommends a sports medicine examination to determine fitness for competition.
Participants agree not to start the event or to withdraw immediately if health issues, injuries, exhaustion, or other circumstances arise that no longer ensure the safe continuation of the event.
The organizer assumes no responsibility for health risks resulting from insufficient physical preparation, a misjudgment of one’s own physical capabilities, or pre-existing health conditions, to the extent permitted by law.
Each participant is personally responsible for ensuring that they have adequate health, accident, rescue, and, if necessary, repatriation insurance coverage.
The organizer is not obligated to conduct health or fitness screenings before or during the event.
2.7 Safety, Medical Care, and Race Cancellation
There are checkpoints, aid stations, and safety and rescue personnel along the course. These include, in particular, volunteers from the organizer, members of the mountain rescue service, paramedics, and doctors.
Race officials, the on-site doctors and paramedics, and the mountain rescue team are authorized to temporarily or permanently remove participants from the competition if there are health issues, injuries, inadequate equipment, physical or mental exhaustion, or a threat to the participant’s own safety or the safety of others.
The decision to halt the race or disqualify a participant for safety or health reasons is final and cannot be appealed.
The organizer strives to provide the best possible medical and safety support. However, due to the alpine location, the nature of the terrain, weather conditions, and limited accessibility to certain sections of the course, neither immediate assistance nor a specific response or rescue time can be guaranteed.
2.8 Alternative Routes, Route Changes, and Event Adjustments
The safety of the participants is the organizer’s top priority.
If individual sections of the route or entire events cannot be carried out as planned due to weather conditions, natural disasters, official requirements, safety concerns, rescue operations, or other unforeseeable circumstances, the organizer is entitled to change the course routes, close individual sections of the course, designate alternative routes (replacement routes), shorten distances, reduce elevation gain, or make other organizational adjustments.
Alternative routes may be designated for all Torlauf Dachstein events. The applicable route for each event will be determined by race officials, taking into account the current safety situation, and will be announced to participants in a timely manner.
To the extent permitted by law, no claims against the organizer may be derived from the implementation of an alternative route, a route change, a shortening of the distance, a postponement, or the cancellation of an event.
2.9 Changes to the routes, time limits, and event schedule
The organizer or race directors reserve the right to make changes at any time to the course routes, checkpoints, aid stations, time limits (cut-off times), start times, and other aspects of the event’s schedule in the event of adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, official requirements, safety concerns, rescue operations, or other unforeseeable circumstances.
The organizer or race directors are also authorized to cancel an event before the start, postpone it, interrupt it during the event, or call it off if the safety of participants, volunteers, emergency personnel, or other involved individuals can no longer be guaranteed.
Decisions and instructions from the race directors regarding these matters must be followed immediately.
2.10 Prohibited Means of Transportation, Sports Equipment, and Animals
Participation is permitted exclusively on foot. The use of any means of transportation or sports equipment that could endanger safety or interfere with the proper conduct of the event is prohibited.
• Bicycles and e-bikes
• Motorcycles and e-motorcycles
• Scooters and e-scooters
• Hoverboards
• Inline skates
• Strollers and jogging strollers (“baby joggers”)
• Wheelchairs and hand bikes
• Other comparable modes of transportation
This prohibition also applies to accompanying persons along the race course.
Bringing animals along during the race is prohibited. This applies in particular to dogs. The prohibition is intended to protect the participants, the animals themselves, and to ensure safety on sections of the course that pass through pastureland.
Rules for Poles
For the Torlauf Dachstein Marathon, Torlauf Dachstein Skyrace, and Torlauf Dachstein Ultra, only foldable or telescoping trail running or hiking poles are permitted. These must be able to be transported fully retracted or folded and must not exceed a length of 80 cm in this state.
In the Torlauf Dachstein 10 km, the Torlauf Dachstein Half Marathon, and the Team Run, all types of trail running and hiking poles are permitted.
If poles are used, they must be carried from the start to the finish. Picking up, setting down, depositing, leaving behind, throwing away, or handing over poles along the course is not permitted.
2.11 Measures Taken by the Organizer to Ensure Safety
The organizer is authorized to exclude or disqualify participants from the event at any time for violations of the ATB, safety instructions, or any other unsportsmanlike or dangerous behavior.
Race officials and their designated representatives are authorized to temporarily stop, reroute, or permanently remove participants from the race for safety, health, or organizational reasons.
Decisions made for safety or health reasons are intended to protect the participants and all persons involved in the event and must be accepted by those affected.
3. Competition Information
3.1 Competition
Detailed course descriptions—including course maps, elevation profiles, technical requirements, cutoff times, and information on special features and hazardous sections—for the Torlauf Dachstein 10 km, Torlauf Dachstein Half Marathon, Torlauf Dachstein Marathon, Torlauf Dachstein Skyrace, and Torlauf Dachstein Ultra are available on the website www.torlauf-dachstein.info.
3.2 Race Numbers
3.2.1 Pick Up Race Numbers
Each participant must pick up their race number in person. Race numbers will be issued upon presentation of the registration confirmation, as well as photo ID if required, and any other documents requested by the organizer.
Participants are not entitled to have their race numbers mailed to them. The exact times and locations for race number pickup will be announced on the website and during the race briefing.
Participants in the Torlauf Dachstein Marathon and the Torlauf Dachstein Ultra must pick up their race packets in person on Friday, September 4, 2026, unless otherwise announced by the organizer.
3.2.2 Race Numbers, Timekeeping, and GPS Tracking
The race number must be worn in a clearly visible, uncovered manner on the front of the upper body throughout the entire event. The race number must not be altered, folded, cut, covered, or otherwise tampered with.
Participants are jointly responsible for ensuring proper timing. The timing chip or race number transponder provided by the organizer must be carried at all times during the entire event in accordance with the organizer’s instructions.
All participants are required to properly pass through all checkpoints, timing mats, split-time measurements, and other control points along the course.
For the Torlauf Dachstein Marathon, Torlauf Dachstein Skyrace, and Torlauf Dachstein Ultra events, a GPS tracking device will also be issued. It will be distributed along with the race packet when participants pick up their race numbers. Participants are personally responsible for picking up the GPS device, carrying it properly throughout the entire event, and returning it immediately after crossing the finish line at the designated return point.
GPS tracking is used primarily for the safety of participants, race monitoring, and, if necessary, to verify the course route. A complete recording, transmission, or monitoring cannot be technically guaranteed.
Failure to carry the GPS device, tampering with it, damaging it, losing it, or failing to return it properly may result in disqualification and require you to reimburse any resulting costs.
3.2.3 Transfer of Race Numbers and Starting Positions
Race numbers are personal and, once assigned, may not be transferred to other individuals or used by anyone else.
Transferring, exchanging, or lending a race number to a third party is prohibited. Likewise, the sale, brokering, or trading of race entries, race numbers, or registration codes through distribution channels not authorized by the organizer is prohibited.
Transfers of race entries are permitted exclusively in accordance with the procedures established by the organizer and within the announced deadlines. The organizer reserves the right to declare race numbers that have been misused or race entries that have been obtained unlawfully invalid at any time.
3.3 Route Markings, Navigation, and Traffic Regulations
3.3.1 Trail Markings and Navigation
The race courses will be marked by the organizer in accordance with the applicable safety standards for trail and mountain running events. Markings will consist primarily of ground markings, directional arrows, signs, marker flags, barrier tape, and—where necessary—reflective markings for sections of the course run in the dark.
Each race has its own marking system. The exact markings for the respective courses will be explained in the race briefing, in the course information, and, if applicable, in the starting area.
The course markings are intended solely for orientation. They do not guarantee a continuous course or a route that is recognizable under all circumstances. In particular, darkness, fog, rain, snow, storms, vegetation, terrain conditions, or the actions of third parties may cause markings to be damaged, removed, obscured, or difficult to see.
Each participant remains jointly responsible for their own orientation and navigation throughout the entire event. The organizer provides course maps and GPX files on the official website; downloading and using them is strongly recommended.
Any participant who can no longer see a marker over a longer section of the course or who has doubts about the correct route must, on their own responsibility, stop, locate the last known marker, or, if necessary, return to the last clearly marked point.
Intentionally leaving the marked course, taking a shortcut (“cutting”), or bypassing checkpoints will result in disqualification.
In the case of unintentional detours that are corrected immediately, the race organizers may waive disqualification. If a competitive advantage was gained by leaving the course, the race organizers may, at their discretion, impose an appropriate time penalty. As a guideline, a time penalty of 10 minutes may be imposed for each kilometer of verifiably shortened or incorrectly run route. Serious, repeated, or obviously intentional violations will result in disqualification. The race organizers’ decision is final.
Leaving the marked course is at your own risk. To the extent permitted by law, the organizer assumes no responsibility for the consequences of deviating from the official course without authorization.
3.3.2 Traffic Regulations, Public Roadways, and Pasturelands
Since there are generally no complete road closures during the Dachstein Torlauf, all participants are required to comply with the provisions of the applicable Road Traffic Regulations (StVO).
For the purposes of the StVO, participants are considered pedestrians and must observe the corresponding regulations and duties of care. This applies in particular when using or crossing public roads, farm roads, and other traffic areas.
To enhance safety, road crossings and hazardous areas may be secured by marshals, course marshals, barriers, mobile obstacles, traffic cones, warning signs, or other safety measures. Participants must follow the instructions of these individuals immediately.
Despite appropriate safety measures, the organizer cannot guarantee that public traffic areas will be completely free of vehicles, agricultural traffic, or other hazards. All participants must adjust their speed and behavior to the respective conditions.
Parts of the race routes pass through farmland, alpine pastures, and grazing areas. Grazing animals always have the right of way and must not be harassed, startled, or provoked. If grazing animals are on or immediately adjacent to the route, participants must pass them at a sufficient distance and as quietly as possible. This applies in particular to mother cows with calves.
Parts of the race courses pass through farmland, alpine pastures, and grazing areas. Grazing animals always have the right of way and must not be harassed, startled, or provoked. If grazing animals are on or immediately adjacent to the course, participants must pass them at a sufficient distance and as quietly as possible. Particular caution is required around mother cows with calves.
Participants are required to follow the instructions of landowners, alpine pasture operators, emergency responders, and personnel assigned by the organizer, provided that this is necessary for safety reasons.
3.4 Timekeeping and GPS Tracking
Official timing for the Torlauf Dachstein 10 km, Torlauf Dachstein Half Marathon, Torlauf Dachstein Marathon, Torlauf Dachstein Skyrace, and Torlauf Dachstein Ultra races is conducted exclusively using the timing system provided by TIME2WIN GmbH, which has been commissioned by the organizer.
Only the timing data recorded by the organizer will be used for official results. Personal sports watches, GPS devices, or other timing systems used by participants are not valid for official timing and results.
Without a properly registered timing chip, no official timing will be recorded and the participant will not be included in the results list.
If a split time or checkpoint cannot be verified, or if timing or tracking data is incomplete, race officials are authorized to impose a time penalty or disqualify the participant in question. The decision in this matter is at the discretion of race officials.
Tampering with the race number, timing chip, GPS device, or any other tracking system will result in disqualification.
3.5 Time Limits, Cut-Off Times, and Withdrawal
3.5.1 Time Limits (Cut-Off Times)
The time limits (cut-off times) set by the organizer apply to all races. The current time limits are published on the official website and form an integral part of these ATB.
Participants must reach all checkpoints within the specified cut-off times. Only the timing data recorded by the organizer is considered authoritative.
If a cutoff time is exceeded, the participant in question is required to immediately withdraw from the event. Race officials and their designated representatives are authorized to confiscate the race number and, if applicable, the GPS tracking device, and to remove the participant from the event.
Exceeding a cutoff time ends the participant’s classification in the event. No further official timing or inclusion in the results list will take place.
Depending on available capacity, the organizer may arrange transportation back to the finish area or to a suitable assembly or meeting point. There is no entitlement to such transportation. If transportation is not available or is not utilized, the return journey is at the participant’s own risk and expense.
3.5.2 Purpose of the Competition
Participants who finish the race early or are unable to continue are required to immediately check out at the nearest checkpoint, aid station, course marshal, or a member of the organizing committee.
If it is not possible to check out in person, the participant must immediately contact the emergency or organizational number provided by the organizer. The relevant phone numbers are listed on the race bib and in the Race Briefing.
Proper withdrawal is mandatory. Participants are not considered to have withdrawn from the race until their withdrawal has been registered by the organizer.
If the required withdrawal is not made and this triggers or necessitates a search, rescue, or recovery operation, the resulting costs may be billed to the participant in question, to the extent permitted by law.
3.6 Food, Self-Catering, and Environmental Protection
The principle of partial self-sufficiency (partial autonomy) applies to all Torlauf Dachstein events. Each participant is responsible for carrying sufficient fluids, food, and personal provisions to safely complete the sections between aid stations.
The organizer will set up food and drink stations along the course. The number and locations of these stations will be announced on the official website and during the race briefing. Participants have no entitlement to specific products, quantities, or the continuous availability of individual foods or beverages.
Personal support from third parties (crew) is permitted, provided that it does not hinder other participants or violate safety, nature conservation, or traffic regulations. Race officials may restrict or prohibit support activities at any time for safety or organizational reasons.
The protection of nature, the alpine pastures, and the alpine ecosystem is a top priority for the Torlauf Dachstein. All waste must be disposed of exclusively at the designated collection points near the refreshment stations or in the finish area. Throwing away or leaving waste along the course (“littering”) is strictly prohibited. Intentional littering will result in disqualification.
3.7 Parking
Free parking is available for participants in the area of the Ramsau World Cup Stadium and around the start and finish areas. The number of parking spaces is limited; there is no guarantee of a parking space in the immediate vicinity of the start and finish areas.
Parking is at your own risk. The organizer assumes no liability for damage, theft, or other incidents involving parked vehicles, to the extent permitted by law. Local traffic and parking regulations, as well as the instructions of the marshals, must be followed.
3.8 Bathroom facilities, closets, and clothing transport
Shower facilities and lockers are available to participants at the Dachsteinbad in Ramsau. Use of these facilities is free of charge upon presentation of the vouchers included in the starter pack.
Restrooms are located in the Ramsau Event Center as well as in the designated areas of the event grounds.
For participants in the Torlauf Dachstein Skyrace, a clothing transport service is offered from the start zone to the finish zone. The organizer provides a clothing transport bag for this purpose. This bag must be dropped off before the start at the marked drop-off point in the start area and will be transported to the finish zone at the Dachstein mountain station.
Only the clothing transport bags issued by the organizer and properly labeled will be transported. They will be distributed after crossing the finish line in the designated finish area.
Use of the clothing transport service, lockers, and other storage options is at your own risk. Valuables, cash, electronic devices, identification cards, keys, and other items of particular value should not be stored in the clothing transport bag or in the lockers.
The organizer assumes no liability for loss, theft, damage, or delayed return of items, to the extent permitted by law.
The organizer assumes no liability for loss, theft, damage, or delayed return of items, to the extent permitted by law. The organizer reserves the right to restrict, modify, or suspend the use of the facilities and the clothing transport service for organizational, technical, weather-related, or safety-related reasons.
3.9 Awards Ceremonies
The award ceremonies are scheduled to take place at the following times:
• Dachstein Torlauf 10 km & Team Run: approx. 12:00 p.m.
• Dachstein Torlauf Half Marathon: approx. 1:00 p.m.
• Dachstein Torlauf Marathon: approx. 3:00 p.m.
• Dachstein Torlauf Skyrace: approx. 3:30 p.m.
• Dachstein Torlauf Ultra: approx. 5:00 p.m.
The award ceremonies will generally take place in the start and finish area. In the event of adverse weather conditions or for organizational reasons, the award ceremonies may be moved to the Ramsau Event Center.
The times listed are approximate. No claims may be made against the organizer due to a postponement of the awards ceremony or a change in the event schedule.
3.10 Emergency Medical Services and Emergencies
Along the race routes, the organizer, in cooperation with rescue organizations, medical services, mountain rescue, and other safety personnel, will set up appropriate rescue and medical stations.
In emergencies, contact the Austrian Alpine Emergency Hotline (140). The emergency number is listed on your race bib and in the race briefing.
If you call the Austrian Alpine Emergency Hotline (140), you must explicitly state at the beginning of the call that this is an emergency related to the Dachstein Slalom. If possible, provide your race number, current location, and the nature and extent of the emergency.
Every participant is required to immediately report accidents, injuries, health problems, or other emergencies to the nearest checkpoint, a refreshment station, a member of the organizing committee, or directly to the Austrian Alpine Emergency Hotline (140).
All participants are obligated, to the best of their ability, to provide assistance to persons who have had an accident or are in distress. Emergencies must be reported immediately to the organizers or emergency services.
The organizer will make every effort to provide the best possible medical and rescue care. However, due to the alpine location, the nature of the terrain, weather conditions, and the sometimes limited accessibility of certain sections of the route, no specific response time can be guaranteed.
Participants are responsible for covering the costs of rescue, recovery, and transportation measures—in particular helicopter operations, medical transport, and mountain rescue transport—unless these costs are covered by health, accident, rescue, or other insurance. This applies even if the rescue operation was initiated by third parties, emergency responders, or the organizer.
3.11 Ethical Conduct and Fair Play
Participation in the Dachstein Torlauf requires fair, respectful, and responsible conduct at all times.
All participants must behave respectfully toward other participants, the organizer, race officials, volunteers, course marshals, security personnel, mountain rescue teams, firefighters, medical personnel, doctors, law enforcement officers, landowners, alpine pasture operators, hikers, spectators, and all other individuals present along the course.
Participants agree to respect and treat with care nature, the alpine ecosystem, agricultural land, pasture areas, and private property. Participants must refrain from damaging facilities, barriers, markings, fences, grazing equipment, or any other property.
Unsportsmanlike conduct, insults, aggressive behavior, intentionally obstructing other participants, failure to follow safety instructions, refusal to provide reasonable assistance in emergencies, significant violations of environmental and nature conservation regulations, or other violations of these ATB may result in time penalties, disqualification, or exclusion from the event. The race director’s decision is final.
3.12 Photo Service
A photo service may be offered for the event. Personal photos may be available after the event through the service provider designated by the organizer. Please be sure to review the relevant privacy policy and terms of use of the respective service provider.
4. Registration, Payment Terms, Entry Fees, Services, and Insurance
4.1 Registration
Registration is available exclusively through the online registration platform specified by the organizer. Registration is valid only after the required information has been provided completely and accurately and payment has been received, unless the organizer confirms otherwise.
4.2 Entry Fee and Payment Terms
Entry fees, payment deadlines, and any tiered pricing structures will be published on the website or in the registration portal. Additional processing, service, or transaction fees may apply and will be disclosed during the registration process.
4.3 Scope of Services
The specific scope of services is set forth in the call for bids, the website, the race briefing, and these ATB. We reserve the right to make changes for organizational, weather-related, safety-related, or regulatory reasons.
4.4 Insurance
The organizer does not provide individual accident, health, rescue, or repatriation insurance for participants. Each participant is responsible for ensuring they have adequate insurance coverage.
5. Safety and Mandatory Equipment
5.1 General Information
The mandatory equipment required for each event is published on the website, in the course information, and/or in the race briefing. It must be carried in full and in working order throughout the entire event.
5.2 Minimum Equipment
The mandatory gear list represents the minimum equipment required. Depending on the weather, temperature, personal experience, health, and route selection, additional gear may be necessary. It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that their gear is appropriate for the event.
5.3 Equipment Inspections and PenaltiesThe organizer or race directors are authorized to conduct equipment checks before the start, during the race, and at the finish line. Participants must present the mandatory equipment immediately upon request.
Missing, incomplete, non-functional, or non-compliant mandatory equipment may be penalized—depending on the severity of the violation—with a time penalty, a requirement to retrofit the equipment on-site, a ban on starting, removal from the competition, or disqualification. The race directors shall determine the nature and extent of the sanction at their discretion.
In the event of safety-related equipment deficiencies—particularly if the safe continuation of the competition cannot be guaranteed—the race directors may immediately remove the person in question from the competition.
6. Standings, Cup Policy, and Protests
6.1 Standings and Results Lists
Scoring is based on the events, classes, and categories published by the organizer. Scoring is based exclusively on the organizer’s official timing, checkpoint, and, if applicable, GPS data.
6.2 Cash prizes and non-cash prizes
Entitlement to prize money, non-cash prizes, or other benefits is subject solely to the terms of the contest announcement published by the organizer. The organizer reserves the right to make changes for organizational reasons.
6.3 Cup Policy
For sustainability reasons and to reduce waste along the course, no disposable or reusable cups will be provided at the aid stations for the Torlauf Dachstein Ultra, Torlauf Dachstein Marathon, and Torlauf Dachstein Skyrace events.
Participants in these events are required to bring their own drinking cup (soft cup), water bottle, or suitable hydration system. Without your own drinking vessel, you are not entitled to receive beverages at the aid stations.
For the Torlauf Dachstein 10 km and Torlauf Dachstein Half Marathon events, cups will be provided at the aid stations. The organizer recommends that all participants bring their own drinking vessel, regardless of the event they have chosen.
6.4 Objections and Protests
Objections to results, scores, timing, or decisions related to the conduct of a competition must be submitted in writing to the race director.
The objection must be filed no later than 15 minutes after the relevant participant crosses the finish line or no later than 15 minutes after the preliminary results are published. Objections are not permitted after this deadline has passed.
A protest fee of EUR 100.00 must be paid upon filing a protest. If the protest is upheld in whole or in part, the protest fee will be refunded. If the protest is dismissed or withdrawn, the protest fee will be retained by the organizer.
The race director or the race committee appointed by the race director will decide on the protest, taking into account the available information, timing data, checkpoint data, and, if applicable, GPS data. The decision is final. Legal recourse is excluded to the extent permitted by law.
7. Liability and Disclaimer
7.1 Participation at your own risk
Participation in the Dachstein Torlauf is at your own risk and responsibility. Each participant is responsible for their own health, preparation, equipment, navigation, and conduct in alpine terrain.
7.2 Limitation of Liability
The organizer is liable only for damages resulting from intentional or grossly negligent conduct on the part of the organizer or its agents, to the extent that such a limitation of liability is permitted by law. Liability for slight negligence is excluded—to the extent permitted by law—except in cases of injury to life, body, or health.
7.3 Personal Belongings
To the extent permitted by law, the organizer assumes no liability for the loss, theft, or damage of personal belongings, equipment, clothing, valuables, or vehicles.
8. Modification, Interruption, or Cancellation of the Event
8.1 Cancellation, Interruption, or Termination
The organizer reserves the right to cancel, postpone, suspend, or terminate the event or individual competitions for organizational, safety-related, regulatory, or other important reasons.
8.2 Refund
If the event is canceled before it begins for reasons solely attributable to the organizer—and which are not due to safety concerns or force majeure—the participation fees already paid will be refunded. Any processing and transaction fees already incurred may be excluded from this refund.
No refund of participation fees will be granted if the event or individual races must be canceled, postponed, interrupted, or terminated due to safety concerns, official orders, natural disasters, extreme weather conditions, cable car restrictions, pandemics, epidemics, war, terrorism, strikes, infrastructure failures, or other cases of force majeure.
Likewise, there is no entitlement to a refund if routes are changed, distances are shortened, time limits are adjusted, alternative routes are activated, or individual route sections are closed or rerouted for safety reasons.
If an event must be interrupted or canceled after the start of a race, there is no entitlement to a refund of the entry fee, regardless of the reason.
8.3 Exclusion of Further ClaimsTo the extent permitted by law, no further claims—in particular, claims for damages or reimbursement of travel, lodging, or other expenses—may be asserted against the organizer as a result of the cancellation, postponement, interruption, termination, or modification of the event.
9. Violations, Disqualification, Expulsion, Suspension, and Anti-Doping Regulations
9.1 Violations and Sanctions
Violations of these General Terms and Conditions, of instructions from race officials, of safety regulations, of environmental and nature conservation regulations, or of the principles of fair play may be penalized—depending on the severity of the violation—with a warning, a time penalty, disqualification, exclusion from the event, annulment of results, or suspension from future events.
9.2 Reasons for Disqualification
The following violations, in particular, may result in disqualification: intentionally taking shortcuts, bypassing checkpoints, tampering with race numbers, timing systems, or GPS tracking, transferring a race number to another person, failing to carry mandatory safety equipment, failing to meet cutoff times, refusing to follow instructions from race organizers or emergency responders, intentionally littering, grossly unsportsmanlike conduct, or endangering others.
9.3 Anti-Doping Regulations
Doping is prohibited. Each participant agrees to comply with the applicable anti-doping regulations and principles of sports ethics. The organizer reserves the right to disqualify participants, invalidate results, and report incidents to the appropriate authorities in cases of suspected doping or violations of anti-doping regulations.
9.4 Headphones, drones, and other sources of disturbance
The use of headphones is permitted only if it does not impair the ability to hear ambient noise, instructions from race officials, warning calls, traffic, and hazards. Race officials may prohibit their use at any time for safety reasons.
The operation of personal drones within the event area and along the track is prohibited without the express permission of the organizer.
10. Privacy, Image Rights, and GPS Tracking
10.1 Processing of Personal Data
The organizer processes participants’ personal data for the purposes of preparing, conducting, managing, ensuring the safety of, and documenting the event. This includes, in particular, registration information, contact information, emergency contacts, payment information, results, timing data, checkpoint data, and, where applicable, GPS tracking data.
10.2 Results, Photos, and Media
By participating, participants acknowledge that their name, bib number, club/team, country, age group, race times, finishing positions, as well as photos and video footage, may be published as part of the organizer’s reporting, documentation, results presentation, and public relations activities, to the extent permitted by law.
10.3 GPS-Tracking
A GPS tracking system may be used during the Torlauf Dachstein Marathon, Torlauf Dachstein Skyrace, and Torlauf Dachstein Ultra events. This system is used primarily for safety, race monitoring, verifying the course route, and supporting emergency response and organizational staff. Uninterrupted technical availability cannot be guaranteed.
10.4 Additional Privacy Information
Further information on data processing, the rights of data subjects, and contact information is provided on the official website of the event.
